What a hospital bed rental includes
- A full electric hospital bed: the head, the foot and the overall height all adjust with the hand control.
- Alternating pressure pads are available to rent with the bed.
- Low air loss mattresses are available for purchase only.
- Delivery, assembly and setup in your home, with instruction on the controls.
- A bed that has been through professional cleaning, full sanitization and a safety check before every rental.
Choosing the right bed and mattress
A home hospital bed needs a mattress that is 80 inches long and designed to flex with the frame. For anyone who will spend long hours in bed, a pressure-reducing or alternating pressure mattress is recommended: an alternating pressure mattress uses air chambers that inflate and deflate to keep redistributing pressure and help prevent pressure sores.
A standard home hospital bed carries a safe working load of about 350 to 450 lbs. Half-length rails are generally preferred because they make getting in and out easier while still protecting the upper body from falls. If the bedroom is small, tell us the room size when you call; we can recommend a compact model that leaves enough clearance.
Our rental form also asks whether you need a semi-electric, full electric, hi-low or bariatric bed. A hi-low bed lowers closer to the floor for easier transfers and fall prevention. Ask us which types are in stock when you request your rental.
Rental terms and Medicare
Hospital beds are rented by the month only; we do not offer week-to-week hospital bed rentals. Extensions are easy: call us before the current month ends. A credit card and ID are often required, depending on the value of the equipment.
